The Waynes in Jackson, Wyoming

The Grand Tetons — a mystical, magical, mind-blowing mountain range tucked beside Jackson, Wyoming. Truly nothing short of breathtaking. Whether it’s for a bucket-list road trip, a long weekend away, or the perfect place to end your honeymoon like Kinsey & Josiah, the Tetons feel sacred in their own way.

When I booked K + J’s photoshoot in Jackson, I could hardly wait to return for the third time (something I still can’t believe I get to say). So on a Thursday morning, I jumped in my car and made the six-hour drive from my home in Boise to Jackson.

I arrived in the late afternoon — the perfect timing to drive through the park and soak in the views before our shoot. There was only one problem: stubborn, heavy gray clouds completely covered the Teton range. This was the final day of Kinsey & Josiah’s honeymoon, so we didn’t have the flexibility to reschedule. As I drove along the roads where I remembered clear, unobstructed mountain views, all I could see was a wall of clouds.

So, I prayed. I prayed that God would miraculously clear the storm and bless us with a beautiful evening — one that would allow Kinsey & Josiah to leave with photographs that felt as joyful and radiant as their love.

When we met up, we decided to try a location farther down the range where the clouds seemed slightly thinner. Then on the drive there… The most vibrant double rainbow I have ever seen appeared across the sky!!! It was unreal. Truly one of those moments where you can hardly believe what your eyes are seeing. God was getting creative with this night. As we drove beside that unreal rainbow, I was reminded of what rainbows symbolize in Scripture: God’s faithfulness and His covenant promises. How sweet that God would place such a beautiful reminder over the beginning of this newly married couple’s life together. Ahhh… God is so good. His creation is such a gift. I’ve always felt that God speaks most clearly to me through creation, and this night became another reminder of that. Even amidst the storm clouds, He was still good. Still present. Still creating beauty.

Not long after, the clouds slowly began to part and sunlight poured through the sky. Warm light, glowing sunbeams, dramatic clouds — the kind of heavenly lighting photographers dream about. As Kinsey & Josiah danced and laughed beneath the Tetons and in front of my lens, I was reminded yet again what a gift this job is. Truly. It makes me giddy just thinking about it.

Captured on both digital and film, this gallery holds such a special place in my heart. Not because the evening was “perfect,” but because God spoke through every moment of it. We aren’t promised sunshine every day, but sometimes God reveals His goodness most beautifully in the middle of the storm.

So to Kinsey & Josiah — may you never forget God’s faithfulness woven throughout the beginning of your marriage. And to my future couples, may we chase storms, sunsets, mountain views, and moments like this together someday!

With love,

Elizabeth Ann
